Professional Studies Individual Courses

Solfège and Improvisation both meet weekly in small groups.  The following lesson times are subject to change depending on the number of participants.  Groups of 2 usually meet for 75 minutes, groups of 3 usually meet for 90 minutes, and groups of 4 or more meet for 2 hours.

COST: included in full-time tuition; private lessons:  $75 per hour (contact the director to schedule a lesson)

Class Observations can be done at any time there are classes being offered.  Please check with the director before attending any classes.

Make-Up Classes

All prices are based on a 14 week semester or approximately 4 months of classes, though we actually schedule 15 weeks per semester.  This will allow for any cancellations due to instructor illness.  Cancellations due to inclement weather will not be made up.  Though every effort will be made to offer make-up classes in methodology, solfège, and improvisation there will not be make-up classes in Eurhythmics™ due to the group nature of the classes.  Still, the director will be happy to meet with students individually to ensure they understand the subject material for any classes missed.

Long Distance Study and Individual Lesson Tuition

Students enrolling in Long Distance Study will receive weekly lessons via Skype in Solfège and Improvisation.  These classes will be done as a group lesson and arranged at a mutually approved time with the director and the students.   If a Full-time student wishes to take private Solfège and Improvisation lessons, the tuition cost is increased from $830 to $980 per semester (payments can be divided into two bimonthly payments of $500 each, due at the beginning of the semester and 2 months later).

Adult Weekend Workshop Intensives.

The Dalcroze School of the Rockies™ offers weekend intensive classes during the fall and spring.  On these select weekends, guest clinicians come to the DSR and work with students all day on Saturday and Sunday.  Students have the opportunity to work with the guest clincian as well as DSR students and faculty.  Contact the director for more information about upcoming workshop weekends.

Adult Eurhythmics™ for Enrichment

These classes will meet during the PSP class times to create a larger classroom dynamic and to show a wider variety of classroom activities.  This will also provide PSP students the opportunity to practice teach with adults.  Prices for these courses are based on the total number of classes.  Click here for more information about the Adult Enrichment Program.

Student Teaching/Mentoring

Student Teaching/Mentoring will be done on an individual basis.  It is expected that students will attend, practice-teach, and participate in the classes they are treating as a Student Teacher situation each week.  Before or after each class, the director will meet with the student for mentoring, including discussions of what happened and why, what will happen and why, and other pertinent issues relating to Dalcroze™ Pedagogy.  These individual sessions may last anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on the student's needs and the director's concerns; classes themselves will range from 45-90 minutes.  For anyone enrolled in Eurhythmics™ courses the cost of Student Teaching/Mentoring is included.
